“Would you ever stop supporting your favourite team?”

“Would you ever stop supporting your favourite team?”

An interesting counter-argument  to my “I’m Leaving Leafs’ Nation”.  I definitely see where the author, Chris McHugh, is coming from.  I’m not anti-Leafs, I’m anti-MLSE (and Stavro and Ballard).  I’m leaving not because I want to, but because I feel I have to; because ownership sees the fan base not as a resource or as partners, but as a source of cash flow to be tapped into and maximized.

Hockey debates are always a blast, and this is no exception.  I love reading well-reasoned arguments on both sides of any issues, even (and often especially) if the points run counter to my own.  Check it out, it’s an interesting post.

Why I’m leaving Leafs Nation

Dear MLSE,

I am writing this letter to inform you I am officially leaving “Leafs Nation”. I have been a Toronto Maple Leafs fan for nearly 25 years, since the acquisition of Grant Fuhr convinced me to shed my allegiance with my grandfather’s team (the Montreal Canadiens). Although there have been some rewarding moments as a Leafs’ fan, these moments have been far outnumbered (and outweighed) by my experiences of heartache, disappointment, confusion and frustration.
